Bonnie and Babbi in Levico TermeThe board have announced that a delegation of the Genoese Pars will travel to Scotland during the first part of March.
The trip will be entirely paid for by the attending players, coaching staff and supporters, as opposed to earlier indications given by former sponsor Vision Service, much to all parties' satisfaction, as all hard-earned things taste much better in the end, don't they?
The attending members of the club will travel from Milan to Edinburgh on 11th March and, although a final accomodation is yet to be selected, they will stay in Dunfermline, where they've been invited by former Dunfermline AFC manager, and current Director of Football Jim Leishman MBE, to witness the Division One game against Hamilton Academicals, which will be played out at East End Park (!) on 12th March, ko 1945 local time.
At this moment of time, the highest promptness in booking the flights is requested, arrangements - albeit in the process of being finalised - have been widely illustrated by club captain Aldo Marletta "Clegg", who will also host the lads at his Corso Firenze home on the evening of Thu 17th January, in order to complete booking procedures.
It is also requested, to the purpose of avoiding unnecessary trouble with EasyJet booking system, that the players, coaching staff and supporters involved make their own reservations at different times, if possible before the meeting which will be held at Clegg's place on Thursday night, so as to allow up the necessary time to discuss accomodation.
As of now, the following members of the club have made their reservations:
Aldo Marletta, midfielder
Alberto Buccianti, forward
Fabio Frassinelli, defender
Erica Tenconi, chief supporter
BOARD STATEMENT
Now, a couple of words must be spent to thank our very own - and very special indeed - supporters.
The entire purpose of this whole football playing activity has been to have fun from the word go.
Last year, early days of September or thereabouts, Aldo Marletta, Luigi Vanin and Christian Satta made a whole lot of mistakes, owing to the time shortage they had to get to grips with in the process of recruiting players.
Many of those players have come and gone in a flash, without leaving the shadow of a regret upon parting company with the Pars.
That was very much the case of Claude Orengo, Alberto Pala, Matteo Bruno and Ezio Del Nero, who were all released by the club midway through the 2006/2007 campaign.
That was very much the case of Stefano Morelli, who only played one game for the Pars, yet scoring a brace in a 2-4 defeat to Hattrick Federation, and left the team soon afterwards.
Marco Langella left the club at the end of the 2006/2007 campaign, so did forward Luca Gemignani, who's still highly rated at the club, though, and who knows...
Marco's brother Luigi sadly departed the club, owing to the lack of first team football he'd enjoyed at the beginning of the current term.
Other players, such as Daniele Sforza and co-founder Christian Satta himself, had to be ousted out, following unacceptable remarks and behaviour.
(...) Omissis owing to a debatable use of censorship
At one point of the 2006/2007 campaign, even current manager Luigi Vanin abandoned the club, before re-joining as a player in Levico Terme in September 2007.
As explained, he was then handed the managerial post, following the sacking of Renato Bertoldo, another fellow whose contribution to the club will be mostly remembered for mishaps, such as the ambush he underwent during the pre-season camp, as the "Company of the Druids" waterlogged his room at 2 AM - that was extremely funny by the way.
Slowly but constantly, the shaping up of the project went on, the current players joining the Pars.
Slowly but constantly, it has been said. Frassi (October 06), Bovalino (early 07), Fernandez and Cantelli (June 07) all played for Praese at academy level.
Buccia, a former Sangiovannese forward, returned to playing action in June 07, as he'd been the manager for the whole season - except the initial three fixtures, when Clegg was in charge - owing to a damaged cruciate ligament.
Slowly but constantly, Buttitta appeared, then it was time for Semino and Di Noto, who have considerably bolstered the squad since signing for the club.
All of this now makes sense, cos there appears to be a sense of togetherness on and off the pitch, and as soon as Andrea Borreani is available for selection again, it will be all the more interesting for the lads.
Thanks must be given to occasional performers such as Claudio Urru and Giuseppe "Pino" Alberga, whom we all hope to have back in the fold as promptly as possible.
But, why does all of this now make sense?
Is it because of five wins on the bounce?
Is it because it's nice having pasta at "2 di picche" restaurant?
Certainly so, however there's a much deeper reason why we keep on doing what we're doing.
Correct, the fans.
Erica Tenconi, our very own "Bonnie", has been there from the word go, in the thick and the thin, in the cold and the rain... in our hearts.
She'll travel to Scotland with the team, she thoroughly deserves it, she's an asset to the team.
Barbara "Babbi" Silvestri, the gaffer's wife, has also been there very often, and we thank her for her support and her always kind attitude and words.
Sarah "Longfield" Pratolongo, has missed out on a few too many games of late, but she was always there with her chants and her scarf.
Cante's girlfriend Giulia and the Carolines (Canevelji and Zucco) have also been backing us often - still waiting for the flares, Dos Santos, y'know what we mean!
Morsello "The Prince" was also a member of the coaching staff last year, his arrival coinciding with the best string of results in what had been a relatively poor campaign, and is now following The Pars' action on a spot-basis, but always expressing his sincere interest in the club.
So, to all of our fans, we'd like to say "Thanks a lot, your support means a lot to us. WE WOULDN'T MEAN A THING WITHOUT YOU"
All the best
RCC
