PREVIEW - Real Sampie

Dunfermline and Real Sampie met earlier this season, when they played out a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Villa Gavotti, courtesy of braces from Martignone for Real and Gallo for the Pars.
Many things have changed within Dunfermline's setup since then, and the lads are now on a 5-game winning streak which has taken them just 3 points shy of an Excellence Playoff berth, whereas Real Sampie, in spite of a few good results of their own, notably an excellent victory over current table toppers Moranego, lie behind, having collected 15 points from their initial 12 games.

As usual, Wednesday is reckoning time, and there would appear to be some abundance at the disposal of gaffer Perugini, with Flavio Lenza the only certain absentee from the crop of players who've been deployed lately. Other than that, all players are available for selection.
Marco Semino should edge player-manager Leonardo Perugini and be deployed in goal, while the defence will be at full potential with Fausto Crosetti, Davide Filippi and Fabio Frassinelli fighting it out for two starting slots.
In midfield, a selection headache is set to return, as Matteo Bovalino, Fabio Boccaccio and Mattia Maneschi all fit, while Aldo Marletta will be on the hunt for his 60th goal for the club and Marco Cantelli is likely to be deployed either on one flank or upfront, where Alberto Buccianti showed great form following his introduction at the interval in the mauling of Uruk Hai last Monday.

MEETING... FABIO BOCCACCIO

Dunfermline had a very slow start to the season, to put it mildly. Turmoil on and off the pitch seemed to have hampered The Pars' chances for their second successive promotion and, although such an achievement is yet to be fully conquered by the lads, the latest weeks have shown clear signs of a dramatic improvement in form, with 5 wins on the bounce currently placing the Scots third in their Division B group.

Well, turmoil was fixed by the board and the gaffer with a few simple moves. A couple of signings who had failed to gel with the rest of the team were left on the sidelines, the squad was trimmed to a thinner but more appropriate number of players, and Claudio Morsello, a good old friend of Buccia's, suggested the addition of a pacy attacking midfielder to bolster the squad.

That addition, who goes by the name of Fabio Boccaccio, hasn't failed to gel with the rest of the team at all, and has brought 10 (ten) goals in the space of 4 games

The first 3 goals came on his debut-day, when his hat-trick separated Dunfermline and Granarolo Arci. After the Christmas break, two more goals in the crunching match against Massacroni, followed by another hat-trick against minnows Santorre and yet another crucial brace against Uruk Hai last night.

Dunfermlineafc.blogspot.com have met the guy to try and know him in more depth, and here's what he had to say...

"Yeah, obviously I'm satisfied to have joined this bunch of lads, cause I wanted to test myself in this league and I must say the initial signs are more than encouraging, although my fitness could be better. Shame I couldn't join the team any sooner, perhaps we would be top of the group already had that been the case (...), however, that's our aim for the first part of the season.

I'm very happy with the goals I've scored so far, but I'm fully aware I can give a lot more.

The best one was the gliding header I scored last night (against Uruk Hai), from a perfect delivery by Cantelli, the star of this team, but I'm confident even better ones will soon follow".

There was a little joke in the dressing room last night, as Fabio was alleged to have pledged to overtake Alberto Buccianti in the all-time scorers' books before the end of the present term.

"Yeah, I mean, Buccia's about to retire anyway, I think that's doable" Fabio laughed...

As for the team's aims, he added

"Clearly, I've joined this club to reach Division A, and I think that if we're capable of improving our teamwork and if we can stay compact and act as a unit, especially when it comes to defending and creating openings, we'll be able to pull off just that this term.

To don this shirt means a lot to me, it adds that bit of Scottish flavour I didn't have in my life yet, and it also gives me an opportunity to be part of this nice bunch of people".

Asked whether he felt comfortable to disclose a few details concerning his off-the-pitch time, Fabio replied

"Off the pitch, as well as on it, I try to do my best. I work as a radio-therapist, which means I give my all to try and cure unfortunate people, and in my private life I'm in a two-year-long relationship with my girlfriend, and I love to be surrounded by good friends I share alcohol and fun related moments with. I think all in all I can say my life's mostly stable.

See you next match, next goal and next interview, c'mon ye Pars.

Fabio #2# Boccaccio"

ANALYSIS - Uruk Hai

MARCO SEMINO was wrongfooted by Crosetti's unfortunate deflection on the first goal. That let alone, he produced the usual, dependable and brilliant performance.

DAVIDE FILIPPI scored a stunner with his backheel, and his defensive performance was particularly brilliant during the second half. Man of the match.

FAUSTO CROSETTI was unfortunate to deflect the ball past his own keeper. But, aside from that, his performance was virtually stainless.

FABIO BOCCACCIO's goal-scoring repertoir witnessed yet another modality, his header gliding goalwards. It's 10 goals in 4 games, also including a cracker from halfway or thereabouts.

ALDO MARLETTA didn't have his best game in the first half, but atoned in the second period, with an excellent performance including two goals.

MATTEO BOVALINO finally netted his first goal of the campaign from a penalty shot, and proved once again reliable both on the flank and at the back throughout.

MARCO CANTELLI has set his sights on 25 goals for the season. He's now reached 6 in 4 games, so there's 19 to go...

ALBERTO BUCCIANTI's introduction re-shaped the course of the game. He fought his way out of trouble, scored a poacher's goal and turned provider as well. Spot on game.

URUK HAI - DUNFERMLINE 3-9

Dunfermline avenged the defeat they were inflicted on Matchday 1 this season but, while that match ended up with Uruk Hai edging a 2-1 thriller, The Pars were ruthless and humbled their opponents to a harsh 9-3 scoreline.
Perugini deployed Semino in goal, with Crosetti and Filippi composing the back two and Boccaccio, Marletta and Bovalino in the middle of the park.
Cantelli was selected ahead of Buccianti upfront and the game got underway with referee Sinatora in charge.

Dunfermline had a clear-cut chance early on, after Cantelli delivered a sweet ball to Bovalino, whose close range effort went over the bar.
At the other hand, the hosts were luckier as a half-hearted cross cannoned off Crosetti's thigh to wrongfoot Semino and give them the lead.
Some Pars looked sort of misplaced on the pitch, but still managed to net an equaliser, as a through ball from Boccaccio found Cantelli, who coolly controlled with his left and lashed home with the same foot to make it 1-1.
Boccaccio tried to break the stalemate soon after, but his effort straight from a corner kick was brililantly saved by Kai's keeper.
Then, Bovalino and Cantelli combined beautifully, but both failed to deliver the final ball and the hosts had a chance to break and capped their counter-attacking move with a shot from outside the box, which beat Semino and gave them the lead once again.
Again, Dunfermline appeared misplaced throughout and were easily caught on the break.

HALF TIME: Uruk Hai 2, Dunfermline 1

Proceedings were resumed with Buccianti coming off the bench to replace Bovalino and Cantelli was therefore moved to the left flank.
Dunfermline did exert some kind of pressure to force an equaliser, which they brilliantly obtained through one of their unsung heroes, Davide Filippi.
Boccaccio's delivery from a corner was sweet, but Filippi's backheel finish was even sweeter as the ball went in through Uruk Hai goalkeeper's legs.
Having twice come back from behind, The Pars felt it necessary to stake their own claim for the game, and they seemed to have achieved just that as a peach of a long ball from Cantelli was met mid-air by Boccaccio's header, with the midfielder's finish just too good to be saved, 3-2.
Bovalino then replaced Crosetti and occupied the defensive slot he had so well interpreted against minnows Santorre, but Dunfermline were once again made to pay for some poor defending, as a brilliant save by Semino wasn't capitalised at all, with one of Uruk forwards allowed to recoup the ball from the bottom line before smashing it in the back of the net to bring the scores to a pulsating 3-3.
Minutes later, though, Boccaccio made headlines again, as he unleashed an unstoppable shot from just inside the opponents' half, the ball bouncing in front of their keeper before going in.
Once again in the lead, and Dunfermline wanted to make sure that would be it, which they did, as Buccianti powered his way through the hosts' defence before wrongfooting the keeper with a close range finish.
Buccianti then turned provider as his through ball found Marletta, who instantly got rid of his marker and fired home with his left to make it 6-3.
A few minutes later, Marletta was brought down in the box, and up stepped Bovalino for the ensuing penalty-kick, which was easily converted, with the midfielder getting off the mark for the season.
Semino produced a couple of stunning saves to prevent any sort of comeback on the part of Uruk Hai, while at the other end Buccianti's effort was parried away by the goalie, with Marletta lashing onto the loose ball, although his first effort could only hit the woodwork. The ball, though, fell kindly to Marletta, who lost the keeper and collected his brace by sidefooting into an empty goal.
Cantelli's second of the night, then, from a Boccaccio assist, forced the referee to blow the final whistle before time, the scores having reached 9-3 Dunfermline.

PREVIEW - Uruk Hai

Uruk Hai were last Monday the third successive side to inflict a defeat to current table-toppers Moranego who, after a brilliant start consisting of 8 wins in as many league games, have now shown signs of weariness and have been beaten 3 times on the bounce.
Courtesy of that win, Uruk Hai now sit 8th in the group league table, and therefore in the playoff zone, one point ahead of 9th placed Real Bonarda, and 6 points adrift of Dunfermline, actually occupying 4th place in the league courtesy of 4 wins on the trot.

Semino will be back in goal following a permit last week, while Filippi and Crosetti should also return to the squad, leaving Perugini to decide who to deploy amongst them and Frassinelli, who's so far featured in every competitive game for the Pars this season.
In midfield, Lenza is foreseen to sit this one out, while Maneschi is also likely to return to the side, and the selection process will also involve Marletta, Cantelli, Bovalino and Boccaccio, the latter also an outside candidate for the upfront berth as well as the recognised striker Buccianti, back from his duties as well.

The teams have locked horns once before, at the beginning of the present season, with Uruk Hai worthy victors in a tight 2-1 match, Gallo providing a consolation goal for Dunfermline, who also hit the bar late on from a Marletta free-kick.
The hosts will have to do without Fiordaliso and Russo, both banned for two games following a minor fracas in the game against Moranego.

THE RETURN OF THE GIANT

Marco Cantelli is a footballing giant. His comeback from a stint in Belgium has triggered the wildest dreams in regard to a possible back-to-back promotion to the top-tier of AICS football and, in the 3 games he has so far played for The Pars this season, he's already managed to score 4 goals, taking his all time club tally to 44.

Asked by our webmaster what it felt like to be back in Dunfermline's dressing room, he gave the following statement:

"I would like to thank the team for welcoming me back with all the affection and love they've shown, for always considering me an important part of this group, both on and off the pitch, even though I was away for a while and I'm likely to leave again in the future, they all know that.

I would like to think our captain who, during my absence, never left me behind, never away from the spirits of the team, always backing me to succeed in what I was doing and always reminding me that back home I would've found a bunch of friends awaiting my return.

Much for the same reason, I would like to thank our No 10, who never made me feel as though I'd made a mistake by going off to Belgium, always kept me up to date with the team events and only asked me to come back a few times...

I would like to thank our gaffer for just being a gaffer and never playing (...) and because he doesn't make a fundamental mistake by always fielding me even though my fitness levels aren't what they should be at the minute, and I'm also beginning to have a bit of a hump on my back owing to my age (Cante's only 24 by the way).

Obviously, I'd like to thank anyone else as well, once again, for welcoming me back and because they run for me on the pitch, and if it's too hot out there, I'll play on the shady side of the field (Cassano docet...)

I would like to thank the new boys cos they're such a nice bunch of people, I hope we'll be able to gel together well, especially off the pitch, so that we'll be able to get ourselves drunk and sing along down town...

I haven't managed to play many games so far this season, never had a full potential squad, I haven't been in my best form either, and I'm still struggling to understand what the actual standard of this division is, it's going to be a transition division in many ways.

We didn't start well, but we're on the mend now, and I believe we don't even know how much better we can get. Not too many words, we're the best team this season as well, you just need to look at the way we beat Massacroni, 2nd placed, only a league winning team can win a game like that, so no more words, we're the best and we'll show that.

I would liket to sing along "Salutate la capolista" (Pay homage to the table-toppers) as soon as possible.

Cheers and kisses

MC

Baci a tutti

ANALYSIS - Santorre

LEONARDO PERUGINI saved a penalty kick and had to deal with a couple of low-key efforts.

FABIO FRASSINELLI handled matters calmly in defence and even tried to go for glory, but was denied.

MATTEO BOVALINO marked his return from a two-game ban with an excellent performance in defence, an unusual position, the usual dependability.

FLAVIO LENZA would have deserved to get on the scoresheet for all his efforts and commitment. Even without scoring, he recorded an excellent performance.

ALDO MARLETTA reached double figures for the season in one of the easiest games he's ever had to play in a Pars' shirt.

FABIO BOCCACCIO has so far scored 8 times in 3 games for the club. No further introduction is required.

MARCO CANTELLI, although far from his best level of fitness, managed to score a brace.

DUNFERMLINE - SANTORRE 8-3

Dunfermline cruised to a 4th successive league win courtesy of hat-tricks from Boccaccio and Marletta and a brace from Cantelli.
Much had been made about abundance of players at Perugini's disposal, but in the end, owing to various illnesses, only 7 players managed to turn up for this encounter against bottom side Santorre.
Therefore, Perugini deployed himself in goal, with Frassinelli the only recognised defender partnered by Bovalino at the back.
Marletta retained his position in the middle of the park and was flanked by Boccaccio on the left and Lenza on the right, with Cantelli completing the starting VII upfront.

Marletta had a couple of chances before the Pars found their breakthrough courtesy of a lovely combination between Cantelli, who passed sideways, and Boccaccio, whose half-volley ended up in the far corner to make it 1-0.
Dunfermline didn't have to do much at the back, and therefore threw themselves forward pretty often, with Cantelli laying balls back beautifully for the oncoming Boccaccio, Lenza and Marletta.
And from one of those inspired moves, Cantelli fed the ball into the path of Marletta, who got rid of a defender before chipping the goalie to make it 2-0.
Boccaccio was on the scoresheet again soon afterwards, as a fine backheel delivery from Cantelli released him just in front of goal, leaving Boccaccio with the easiest of tap-ins from close range.
Then it was Marletta's moment again, with a pass from Lenza leaving the captain free to fire home from just outside the box.
Cantelli got his own rewards towards the end of the first half, as Bovalino cleared his lines and fed the No 6, whose lovely pass met the run of Marletta, who returned him the ball with a fine through pass and Cantelli blasted home with his left.
Before the end of the first period, Santorre managed to pull one back courtesy of an effort which cannoned off a Santorre player before finding its way into the back of the net.

HALF TIME: Dunfermline 5, Santorre 1

Proceedings were resumed and Dunfermline soon found a 6th goal, as a poor defensive clearance was intercepted by Marletta, who coolly slotted home from outside the box to reach double figures for the season.
Santorre pulled a further goal back, but they could've gone even closer had the penalty they were awarded been converted.
Instead, Perugini dived to his left and saved the spot-kick with ease, and the Pars soon netted another one, when a corner executed by Boccaccio gave Cantelli a chance to volley home with his left to make it 7-2.
The visitors managed to find their 3rd goal of the night, but Boccaccio didn't quite seem to have had enough and tried to wow his teammates with a beautifully taken overhead kick, only for the goalkeeper to produce his best save of the night and deny the winger.
Lenza and Marletta also went close with a volley apiece, with both efforts being blocked by the keeper and the defence.
Boccaccio eventually did score his third as a brilliant move was capped by the sweetest of deliveries from Frassinelli, once again leaving The Pars' No 2 with an easy tap-in.
Frassinelli also had a couple of chances to score himself, but an effort from well inside the box was mis-kicked wide by the defender.

PREVIEW - Santorre

Dunfermline will take on Santorre at their home ground of Via Ungaretti on Sunday 18th January, kick-off at 7 PM.
With three wins on the bounce, against the likes of Zena Caput Mundi, Granarolo Arci and, last but not least Massacroni, Dunfermline have moved up the league table ladder and currently sit 4th, 5 points adrift of the second and final Excellence Playoff berth, at the moment occupied by Anni Settanta, who will take part in the showdown against 3rd placed Massacroni on Sunday as well.
Should the Pars collect a 4th successive win and Massacroni beat Anni Settanta, the desolating scenarios the Scots were facing just a month ago - sitting 9th in the table, outside the playoff zone - would be entirely forgotten, for the time being, and the lads would be looking forward to a 2007/2008-like run of results.

On the other hand, Santorre sit bottom of the league group and, although their recent form has slightly improved, they could only manage 6 points so far this season, courtesy of two wins: a prestigious one to dispose of 2nd placed Anni Settanta, and an off-the-pitch one against A Selesiun, who were punished for fielding a banned player and saw their win justly overturned by an FA decision.
Even so, Dunfermline will have to be on their toes and avoid a potential banana skin game, it's when you're over-confident that you're most likely to stumble...
The teams have never locked horns before.

Marco Semino has been given a permit to sit out this one, therefore player-manager Leonardo Perugini will be deployed in goal, while the full package of defenders, consisting of Fabio Frassinelli, Fausto Crosetti and Davide Filippi will be available for selection.
In midfield, the most packed of sectors in the squad, it is likely that abundance will cause Perugini a few headaches.
Aldo Marletta has shown great form recently, and so has Fabio Boccaccio, who's netted 5 times in his 2 games for the club. Moreover, Mattia Maneschi shares the topscoring position with the captain, and Flavio Lenza has shown some real reliability when called upon.
Marco Cantelli has returned from Belgium and has immediately proved he hasn't forgotten any bits of his excellent way of playing football, and to complete the jigsaw, Matteo Bovalino will be a welcome return from his troubles and the two-match-ban he had to serve following his dismissal amidst the fracas which occurred in the 4-2 victory over Zena Caput Mundi.
At the time of writing, all above players are available, while it is to be ascertained whether Enrico Miroglio, a pre-season signing who's still to make his Pars debut and has now recovered from a broken wrist, will be given the nod for this game.
Should Alberto Buccianti miss this game since possibly otherwise engaged, either Boccaccio or Cantelli could be fielded upfront, but the odds are for the Tuscan striker to be involved, as he should return from a trip to Rome just in time for the match.

DUNFERMLINE & ARCHINAV - The story goes on

This time last year or thereabouts, Leonardo Perugini posted an ad on the AICS website wall. The Archinav chairman, head-coach and goalkeeper was on the hunt for a midfielder and a defender to bolster his squad in a bid to be crowned Zonale group champions and Aldo Marletta and Davide Filippi responded to such an ad and were soon recruited within the ranks.

Archinav did eventually win their league group and their march towards the championship final was only halted at the quarter final stage, by which time Clegg had scored 9 times for the club, while Fernandez also hit the target once.

What happened in the meantime belongs to history already. Perugini was recruited to the Pars' cause as well, owing to the temporary absence of Dunfermline No 1 Marco Semino, and the Scots never lost a game with him in goal.

Perugini went on to be promoted to the head-coaching position at Dunfermline, in addition to his playing role, and a further Par, Fabio Frassinelli, joined the Zonale side at the beginning of the 2008/2009 season.

The cooperation between the two sides reached even farther when Fausto Crosetti signed for Dunfermline, and Daniele De Maria has hitherto made his first appearance for the Scots in the process, albeit receiving a red card during the controversial game against Zena Caput Mundi.

Stefano Ganduglia was also called upon once by Dunfermline, and did himself justice with a greatly taken free-kick in the two-nil win over A Selesiun.

So far this season, Marletta has scored 8 times for Archinav, with Fabio Frassinelli getting on the scoresheet 5 times, but the latest addition, which will be officially unveiled tonight, as Archinav take on league strugglers Nuova Olimpique, is that of Marco Cantelli, a man capable of banging 39 goals for Dunfermline last term, and two in as many games so far this season.

DUNFERMLINE & ARCHINAV, the story so far...

LEONARDO PERUGINI has this far made 9 playing appearances for Dunfermline, losing just one of those games. He was promoted to the manager position at the beginning of the 2008/2009 season, meanwhile he has retained his role as second-choice goalkeeper. He's a founding member of Archinav, which he also coaches and plays for as a goalkeeper.

FAUSTO CROSETTI has so far featured in 10 games for Dunfermline, having joined the club at the beginning of the 2008/2009 season. He's also scored a goal for The Pars, in the unfortunate 6-3 defeat at the hands of Anni Settanta. He joined Archinav at the beginning of the 2007/2008 season and has so far scored 2 goals for the Zonale club.

FABIO FRASSINELLI has represented Dunfermline 46 times, notching 8 goals in the process. He joined Archinav at the start of the present term and has so far scored 5 goals for the club.

DAVIDE FILIPPI has 36 appearances and 1 goal to his name for Dunfermline. Having joined Archinav midway through the 2007/2008 campaign, he also netted once that same season.

ALDO MARLETTA is a founder of Dunfermline and their chairman and captain. He's so far recorded 54 goals in 55 games for The Pars, and joined Archinav in January 2008, and has scored 17 times for the Zonale outfit (9 times last season, 8 so far this term).

DANIELE DE MARIA has only made 1 appearance for Dunfermline and, while good, his performance was marred by a silly red card for foul play. His performance for Archinav includes an impressive tally of 23 goals last term, and he's scored 3 so far this season.

STEFANO GANDUGLIA has 1 goal from 1 game with Dunfermline, an excellent free-kick against A Selesiun. He got on the scoresheet twice for Archinav earlier this term.

MARCO CANTELLI well, he needs no further introduction. 42 goals in 28 games for Dunfermline, he's poised to make his debut for Archinav tonight.

MASSACRONI - DUNFERMLINE - The Goals

We used to have video highlights from each and every match we played.
For some kind of reason, this season we no longer do, so we decided to call upon older schools of thought, so here we go with some prehistorical (and frankly, poor paint-wise) representation of what we achieved last night... hoping to have our footage back at some point...

ANALYSIS - Massacroni

MARCO SEMINO
A couple of decisive saves in the first half, and brilliant handling of shambolic back passes in the second period.

DAVIDE FILIPPI
He had to handle Grieco and Pedroni, not the easiest of tasks. Even so, he did fairly well.

FABIO FRASSINELLI
He tried to knock Grieco out on the third goal occasion, without much luck. However, one of the best defenders in the league.

FAUSTO CROSETTI
Dunfermline conceded no goals in the second half, and he shares some of the merit for that.

FABIO BOCCACCIO
A brace which takes his goal tally to 5 - in 2 games. That extra-something the club were looking for.

ALDO MARLETTA
One of those goals he took forever to execute. But the ball was in the back of the net, and that's all that matters.

MARCO CANTELLI
How good to see him back on the pitch for The Pars. The midfield pack gains an attacking stalwart with him in the squad.

MATTIA MANESCHI
Not easy to come on as a sub midway through such a difficult match, but he fared pretty well.

ALBERTO BUCCIANTI
As always, he had to battle it out against his opponents. He kept the ball up the park and contributed to at least one of Dunfermline's goals.

MASSACRONI 3 DUNFERMLINE 4

The Pars are back. So is Marco Cantelli, whose unexpected early return from Belgium represented a real boost for the lads.
Dunfermline are now arguably an even better side than the one that achieved promotion last term, and once Matteo Bovalino will reach completion for his reinstatement, last season's crop of players plus the valuable additions of Fausto Crosetti and Mattia Maneschi, and the outstanding one of Fabio Boccaccio, will be able to make themselves heard on the pitch and possibly look to another high flying finale to the present term.

On the night, Perugini deployed Semino in goal, with the pairing of Frassinelli and Filippi in defence. Marletta took centre stage in the middle of the park, with Cantelli and Boccaccio either side of him and Buccianti completing the jigsaw upfront.
Dunfermline were soon on the back-foot as a good finish from Grieco established the home side in the lead.
The Pars had a chance to equalise from an indirect free-kick inside the six-yard box, but Marletta was clipped following Cantelli's early pass, and Dunfermline were left to deal with a marvel of a counter-attacking move on the part of Massacroni, which ended up doubling their lead through a neat finish by Pedroni.
Dunfermline did score eventually, as Boccaccio took charge of a free-kick and fired home with the opponents' goalkeeper to be deemed at fault, though, for some poor positioning.
Just as the Scots looked to have begun to get a grasp on the game, Grieco struck again, as the highly gifted Massacroni forward got past a couple of men, resisted a strong challenge from Frassinelli and side-footed home from close range it make it 3-1.
But, as pointed out initially, The Pars are back and they did produce some back-from-the-dead magic.
Marletta and Cantelli combined beautifully and the latter played a magnificent through ball towards Boccaccio, who neatly placed the ball past the keeper with his left.
At 3-2 down, it was absolutely vital for Dunfermline to try and grab an equaliser before the interval, and then again... Cantelli's back.
He picked up a throw in and shot on the turn with his left, the ball ending its run inside the roof of the net at the far corner. Magic!

HALF TIME: Massacroni 3, Dunfermline 3

Perugini introduced Crosetti for Filippi and Maneschi for Marletta, and the game endured a slow start to its second period.
Massacroni could easily have grabbed a couple of goals, but a few chances went begging when Pedroni and Grieco tried to score with finesse efforts instead of just blasting the ball past a great Semino, who even had to deal with a couple of risky back passes from Boccaccio and Crosetti, who both picked up yellow cards for dissent and foul play, respectively.
Grieco had a further chance towards the end of the second half, but his free-kick skimmed the far post.
Just as the match was nearing its end with what appeared to be a fair draw, the unexpected took place.
Marletta, who had been re-introduced for Buccianti, picked up a ball inside the opponents' half, took a couple of steps forward and lashed home with a brilliant left-footed thunderbolt.
Dunfermline could even have gone one better had Boccaccio's shot not ended its run against the post deep inside stoppage time.
But, for all that matters, The Pars are back.

PREVIEW - Massacroni

Dunfermline and Massacroni locked horns for the first time at a crucial stage of the 2007/2008 campaign. After dominating their respective Division C groups, the two clubs were included in the same Excellence Playoff stage group and both made it through to the quarter finals courtesy of a 2-2 draw many will remember as an heroic performance on the part of the Scots.
With no subs available on the night, Dunfermline produced arguably one of their finest performances of the season with Perugini in goal, Semino in defence (!) alongside Filippi, Marletta, Bovalino and Di Noto in midfield and Buccianti upfront.
Two goals from Marletta (ehr, one from him and one from Buccianti according to the official books), from as many free-kicks, gave a patched-up Pars' side an unexpected lead, before Rutigliano pulled one back for Massacroni, Sacco then securing a draw deep inside the second half.
Both clubs got rid of their opponents at the quarter final stage, thus securing their promotion to the second tier of AICS football, but both endured elimination at the following knockout round, being disposed of at the hands of Alliance Utd and Sampierdarena NCLM respectively.

This season has so far told a different story, with the Pars struggling to hit top form and only now making up for lost ground courtesy of two wins on the trot against Zena Caput Mundi and Granarolo Arci, which have established Dunfermline in 5th place, 6 points adrift of 2nd placed Massacroni.
Marco Semino will be deployed in goal this time out, while all three main defenders will be available for selection, therefore Filippi, Frassinelli and Crosetti will fight it out for two places at the back.
The midfield options will be drawn from a pack including Marletta, Maneschi, Lenza and Boccaccio, with the new signing also having an outside chance of starting upfront, where Buccianti, though, is more likely to feature as the lone striker.
Bovalino will be serving the second and final match of his two-game ban, whilst Cantelli, set to return from Belgium on a permanent basis, will once again miss out on the high-profile encounter.
