Archinav defender Fausto Crosetti has been signed for the 2008/2009 term by Dunfermline.
Crosetti will be one of a number of players to ply his trade for both The Pars and Zonale side Archinav, also including player-manager Leonardo Perugini, defenders Fabio Frassinelli and Davide Filippi and midfielder Aldo Marletta.
Following the disappointments of the announced - and then rejected - signings of Davide Ducco, Luca Capanni, the dismissal of Giuseppe Buttitta and the shell-shocking departure of Alessio Di Noto and the widely foreseen one of Andrea Borreani, The Pars have found themselves short in numbers, Crosetti becoming only the third pre-season signing after forward Federico Gallo and defender Alberto Pittaluga.
Fausto Crosetti is a credible and reliable addition to one of the best defensive packages of the whole AICS fold, and will surely add quality to the side, whereas 19 year old midfielder Mattia Maneschi is also expected to sign tomorrow, pending clearance from Merlino, his FIGC club.
News are also expected concerning the possible signing of goalkeeper Gianluca Lanata.
Dunfermline will be playing a test match against Zonale's Pegli Team tomorrow night.

Il difensore dell'Archinav Fausto Crosetti è stato ingaggiato dal Dunfermline per la stagione 2008/2009.
Crosetti sarà un altro dei giocatori che disputerà sia lo zonale con l'Archinav che la Divisione B con i Pars, insieme ai difensori Fabio Frassinelli e Davide Filippi, ed il centrocampista Aldo Marletta.

Soggetto a nulla-osta del proprio club FIGC di appartenenza, il Merlino, dovrebbe firmare a breve anche il centrocampista diciannovenne Mattia Maneschi, mentre si attendono notizie in merito al possibile trasferimento del portiere Gianluca Lanata.
Il Dunfermline giocherà un'amichevole contro il Pegli Team, formazione del campionato Zonale, domani sera.

VAMOS COMPANEROS
We hit a rock-bottom new low yesterday. Outpaced, outmuscled and outclassed by 7 players on the same pitch for the first time. Not a goal, not a shot on goal, not a run.
We're low in numbers, but even lower in our mentality. Right, we've never been good at friendlies but then we've been using that as too weak an excuse for our dismal performances lately.
We need to stand up and be counted, we've been and will be responsible for our own on-the-pitch achievements, so I don't want to hear anyone mentioning Marco Cantelli's absence as a possible alibi for our very poor displays.
Right, he scored 39 goals last season, right he was and still is our main marksman BUT... I need only to remind you the following:

Following the sudden and unexpected departure of midfield star Alessio Di Noto, and the missed arrivals of Davide Ducco and Luca Capanni, Dunfermline have found themselves short in numbers ahead of the forthcoming season.
In such a respect, defender and board counsellor Davide Filippi has called upon a number of his former Mojito FC's 5-a-side teammates, who will be tested in Sunday's friendly encounter against a Pegli-based outfit.
Flavio Lenza, a 1979 born right winger, will be deployed alongside Arman Khazali, an attacking midfielder born in 1983, and Enrico Miroglio, formerly of Praese, yet another winger born in 1982.
The trio will undergo close scrutiny and their performances will be assessed with a look to permanent signings.

PARS ROUND UP - 24th September
With only 3 weeks remaining before the first competitive game of the season kicks off, The Pars have discovered that they might not be able to count on a number of players owing to various reasons.
While welcoming the newly acquired sponsorship deal stipulated with Sampierdarena restaurant Le Palme, which adds to the significant contibution from Centro Giochi Liguria, the board are unpleasantly left to face a number of serious issues, as the number of available players place the squad in dire straits at the moment.
Summer signing Luca Capanni has declared his intention not to be part of the team, owing to other footballing duties, and a further cause for concern is represented by the fact Davide Ducco, the other star player brought in to bolster the team, hasn't yet obtained clearance to play from his FIGC club, Cartusia.
On top of that, Alessio Di Noto, an 11-goal man last season, is weighing up his options, but his stay is not beyond doubt as he hasn't taken part in any of the friendly games the Pars have played thus far this season.
With Marco Cantelli away on duty, and Davide Filippi suspended for the league opening match, the gaffers and the board of directors will seek after at least a couple of players to complete a not-so-in-depth team at the moment.
Finally, Dunfermline will play a further friendly game on Sunday, as they take on a Pegli-based outfit at their new home ground, Ungaretti.

Dunfermline do have a tendency to lose pretty much all pre-season friendly games and last night was no exception as Division C side Natanstyle overhauled the Pars by 6 goals to 3.
Dunfermline also do have a tendency to give it their all when points are at stake, but concerns were voiced as to the very fitness of the players on the pitch.
Dunfermline's goals were scored by Marletta, who netted a brace, and Gallo.
Meanwhile, the board have announced the sealing of a partnership deal with leisure and entertainment firm Centro Giochi Liguria, which will be one of the sponsors of the club for the 2008/2009 term.
On top of that, it has been confirmed that the Ungaretti ground will be home to the Pars for the season.

Dunfermline slipped to defeat in the first friendly game of the season, as tradition imposes, as a brilliant Archinav side had the better of a far from fit package, which was reduced to six men following the last minute absence of new boy Luca Capanni.
A few positives were drawn from the debut of winger Federico Gallo and the good level of fitness shown by striker Alberto Buccianti, both on target with a brace each.
The other goals were grabbed by Bovalino, Frassinelli, Marletta and an Archinav trialist, who was lent to Dunfermline for the first half of the game owing to Capanni's absence.

Dunfermline will take on Archinav in a friendly game tonight, but they will also be playing a further test encounter against Division C side FC Natanstyle at the Via dell'Acciaio ground on Sunday 21st, ko 9 PM.
Natanstyle were last season known as Le Café, and they were included in the same Division C group as The Pars, who were the only side capable of completing the double over Natale Cosoleto's Blacks, by collecting two wins with the scorelines reading 6-5 and 5-4 respectively.
The teams also met in a friendly towards the end of the season, and Le Café won on that occasion.

LIGURIA CUP DRAW
Dunfermline AFC have been drawn in the first knockout round of the Liguria Cup, and they will face fellow Division B club Mojito FC.
Funnily enough, Dunfermline's first competitive game was against the Castelletto-based outfit, a 3-1 home defeat which kick-started the Genoese Pars' footballing activity.
Later in the 2006/2007 season, the teams, then plying their trade in the third tier of AICS football, met in reverse fixtures and Mojito won again, this time by 4 goals to 1, Luca Gemignani scoring the only Pars' goal as well as he had done in the previous encounter between the teams.
That season, Mojito gained promotion to Division B, while Dunfermline failed to qualify for the playoffs, although they fully made amends by obtaining the same achievement one year later.

PLAYER REVIEW - #99 Andrea Borreani
Nine games were a thin contribution on the part of the promising forward, but his presence within the Dunfermline squad was restrained by a couple of serious injuries during the course of the 2007/2008 season.
Moreover, he couldn't be fielded alongside fellow star Alessio Di Noto, owing to his FIGC ranking and that of The Pars' No 9, a circumstance which, too, contributed to have Andrea Borreani out of many games.
However, his games with the Pars showed how sorely he'll be missed ahead of a 2008/2009 season which won't see him as part of the team that will covet a second successive promotion.
Along with his debut came his first goal for the Scots, in the first of 13 consecutive wins, a 5-2 away triumph to New Reds Ponente that also witnessed his first main injury of the season, as a reckless challenge from an opponents' defender resulted into a fractured ankle, ruling him out for a couple of months.
On as a second-half sub in the 6-5 victory over Le Café, he produced a few interesting openings that helped tear the home side's defence apart.
One week later, his delivery for Bovalino was brilliant, as Matteo netted Dunfermline's third in a 4-2 home win over Borussia.
He returned to action to help his side overhaul Las Cuevas, by 4 goals to 1, before missing out on a number of games.
He was in the starting VII that struggled way too much before collecting a hard fought win against minnows Xeneixes (5-4), and was absolutely instrumental in the defeat of Sampierdarena, by 2 goals to 1, a game that sealed Dunfermline's entrance within the Group top two.
He picked up yet another injury against Borussia, on the final match of the regular season, as his runs proved too hot to handle for a frustrated home side's back pack.
His most notable piece of work for Dunfermline, though, came when it was most needed, in the quarter final tie against Amici di Berto, the promotion-winning encounter.
Andrea combined with Bovalino to help Marletta with the first goal, before netting his second of the season following a square delivery from Marletta himself.
He then got rid of a couple of opponents before returning the favour to the club's captain, who scored to re-establish the Pars in the lead at 4-3, the final scoreline reading 5-3.
His last game of the season was also Dunfermline's last, as the Fifers crashed out at the semifinal stage, losing out to Alliance Utd by 3 goals to 2.
Well, Andrea wreaked havoc in the Alliance defence throughout the whole first half, before being pulled out, to the bemusement of many, at the beginning of the second half.

Nove partite saranno anche state poche durante il corso della stagione, per il promettente attaccante, ma a dire il vero la sua presenza nella squadra è stata ristretta a causa di un paio di infortuni seri patiti.
Inoltre, il mister non ha mai potuto schierarlo al fianco di un'altra stella del centrocampo, Alessio Di Noto, a causa dei rispettivi punteggi FIGC, un'altra circostanza che l'ha tenuto fuori da molti degli incontri dei Pars.
In ogni caso, la qualità delle sue giocate ha dimostrato come la sua presenza mancherà comunque alla squadra durante il corso della stagione 2008/2009, quando il Dunfermline inseguirà un'altra promozione.
Insieme al debutto, arriva anche il primo goal, nella prima di 13 vittorie consecutive, un 5-2 in trasferta in cui Borreani realizza la rete del provvisorio 3-0, prima di fratturarsi una caviglia in seguito ad una scivolata sconsiderata da parte di un difensore avversario.
Infortunio che lo tiene fuori per un paio di mesi, rientra nella vittoria su Le Café per 6-5, entrando nel secondo tempo e creando situazioni offensive interessanti.
Una settimana più tardi, è splendido il suo assist per Bovalino, che frutta il 3-0 prima dell'intervallo, in un match che si conclude sul 4-2.
Ancora in campo nella vittoria, per 4-1, su Las Cuevas, prima di saltare una serie di incontri.
E' nel 7 iniziale che fatica più del dovuto per liberarsi degli Xeneixes (5-4), ma il suo contributo è più che apprezzabile quando i Pars sigillano l'entrata tra le prime due del gruppo, con una vittoria per 2-1 sul Sampierdarena.
Si infortunia nuovamente contro il Borussia, partita vinta 4-3, con i difensori della squadra avversaria che non trovano di meglio che stenderlo regolarmente per arginarlo.
Ma rientra quando è più necessario, contribuendo in maniera decisiva nel match promozione contro gli Amici di Berto.
Prima combina bene con Bovalino, che mette la palla sulla testa di Marletta per l'1-0, dopo segna lui stesso su assist ancora di Marletta.
Quindi, col risultato sul 3-3, si beve mezza difesa avversaria e serve al capitano la palla del 4-3, risultato finale che sarà poi fissato sul 5-3.
Il suo ultimo incontro con gli Scozzesi è anche l'ultimo per la squadra, che viene eliminata perdendo per 3-2 contro l'Alliance Utd in semifinale.
Causa problemi agli avversari durante tutto il primo tempo e, con sorpresa di molti, viene sostituito durante le prime fasi della ripresa.

Andrea combined with Bovalino to help Marletta with the first goal, before netting his second of the season following a square delivery from Marletta himself.
He then got rid of a couple of opponents before returning the favour to the club's captain, who scored to re-establish the Pars in the lead at 4-3, the final scoreline reading 5-3.
His last game of the season was also Dunfermline's last, as the Fifers crashed out at the semifinal stage, losing out to Alliance Utd by 3 goals to 2.
Well, Andrea wreaked havoc in the Alliance defence throughout the whole first half, before being pulled out, to the bemusement of many, at the beginning of the second half.

Nove partite saranno anche state poche durante il corso della stagione, per il promettente attaccante, ma a dire il vero la sua presenza nella squadra è stata ristretta a causa di un paio di infortuni seri patiti.
Inoltre, il mister non ha mai potuto schierarlo al fianco di un'altra stella del centrocampo, Alessio Di Noto, a causa dei rispettivi punteggi FIGC, un'altra circostanza che l'ha tenuto fuori da molti degli incontri dei Pars.
In ogni caso, la qualità delle sue giocate ha dimostrato come la sua presenza mancherà comunque alla squadra durante il corso della stagione 2008/2009, quando il Dunfermline inseguirà un'altra promozione.
Insieme al debutto, arriva anche il primo goal, nella prima di 13 vittorie consecutive, un 5-2 in trasferta in cui Borreani realizza la rete del provvisorio 3-0, prima di fratturarsi una caviglia in seguito ad una scivolata sconsiderata da parte di un difensore avversario.

Ancora in campo nella vittoria, per 4-1, su Las Cuevas, prima di saltare una serie di incontri.
E' nel 7 iniziale che fatica più del dovuto per liberarsi degli Xeneixes (5-4), ma il suo contributo è più che apprezzabile quando i Pars sigillano l'entrata tra le prime due del gruppo, con una vittoria per 2-1 sul Sampierdarena.
Si infortunia nuovamente contro il Borussia, partita vinta 4-3, con i difensori della squadra avversaria che non trovano di meglio che stenderlo regolarmente per arginarlo.
Ma rientra quando è più necessario, contribuendo in maniera decisiva nel match promozione contro gli Amici di Berto.
Prima combina bene con Bovalino, che mette la palla sulla testa di Marletta per l'1-0, dopo segna lui stesso su assist ancora di Marletta.
Quindi, col risultato sul 3-3, si beve mezza difesa avversaria e serve al capitano la palla del 4-3, risultato finale che sarà poi fissato sul 5-3.
Il suo ultimo incontro con gli Scozzesi è anche l'ultimo per la squadra, che viene eliminata perdendo per 3-2 contro l'Alliance Utd in semifinale.
Causa problemi agli avversari durante tutto il primo tempo e, con sorpresa di molti, viene sostituito durante le prime fasi della ripresa.
