ANALYSIS - Internazionale

LEONARDO PERUGINI
He produced a fine save midway through the second half, and could not be deemed at fault for any of Inter's goals, really.

FABIO FRASSINELLI
He went close to scoring once, as he fired a great shot from long range but lacked precision slightly. As for the defensive bit of the game, that's where he excels, so no wonder he snuffed out attacks effectively.

DAVIDE FILIPPI
The lads wanted him to score, he wanted to score, he scored indeed. His first goal for the club, hopefully the first of many, and the usual pace and grit at the back.

ALDO MARLETTA
Still, he took a couple of free-kicks which didn't live up to the expectations. He scored two goals and created a few openings, however the game was not too much of a credible test.

MATTEO BOVALINO
He didn't score on the night, however his contribution was as precious as usual. He contributed to the first goals and a handful of other moves.

ALESSIO DI NOTO
He collected his second hat-trick of the season, and was brilliant in opening his account on the night with a cool overhead kick. He also produced some fine passes and went close once or twice as well.

MARCO CANTELLI
He hit the crossbar in the first half and scored in the second. He also provided a brilliant assist for the 2-0 goal. He reached double figures long ago and now looks set to reach a milestone 30 sooner rather than later

ALBERTO BUCCIANTI
Introduced in the second half, Buccia scored his customary goal, in the right place at the right time. He's the big striker this team needs and will come in handy for the big matches ahead of the lads.

GIUSEPPE ALBERGA
He made his 3rd appearance for Dunfermline, and his performance was spot on. He could've scored, but passed to Buccianti instead. That let alone, he contributed to the opponents' slaughtering.

GAFFER LUIGI VANIN
Deprived of Buttitta at the back, he didn't have a chance to rotate his personnel as widely as usual. Under the circumstances, though, he did well indeed to keep his ranks motivated and has now achieved a string of 15 results without a loss.

REFEREE JACQUELINE CASTILLO
Not much to do on the night, however her decisions were correct and she didn't have to use her cards.

DUNFERMLINE - INTERNAZIONALE 9-3

Dunfermline retained top spot by romping to an early-whistle victory against Internazionale, who are now deservedly occupying the bottom spot after a somewhat unexpected Aston Villa away win at Begato, against newly playoff hopeful Xeneixes.
Gaffer Vanin deployed Perugini in goal, Filippi and Frassinelli at the back, Marletta and Bovalino in midfield, with Di Noto and Cantelli completing the jigsaw uprfont.
Buttitta missed out through other duties, as he was tipped to start, whereas Buccianti was on the bench alongside Giuseppe Alberga.
Proceedings got underway and The Pars soon found the lead through Alessio Di Noto. Bovalino brilliantly nicked the ball off one of Inter's defenders, only to be denied by the keeper; Di Noto, however, was quick to react and coolly finished courtesy of a marvellous overhead kick to make it 1-0.
Marletta made it 2 courtesy of a brilliant in depth pass from Cantelli, and sidefooted home from close range.
A fortunate own goal entitled the Pars to widen their cushion to 3 goals, as Marletta took a corner kick, only for the ball to bounce off one of Inter's defenders who put it through his own net.
In pretty much the same fashion, Di Noto collected his second of the night as he took another corner at the other end, and the Internazionale's keeper couldn't handle the ball and saw it go in through his own legs.
Internazionale pulled one back towards the end of the first half through a brilliantly taken free-kick set piece which resulted in a cross and a finish from close range.

HALF TIME: DUNFERMLINE 4, INTERNAZIONALE 1

Proceedings were resumed and Buccianti was thrust onto the pitch to replace Cantelli. The Tuscan striker soon went back to scoring ways, as he latched onto a Marletta's corner to make it 5-1 his customary way - a pure striker goal.
Internazionale pulled one back with a neat heading finish, but Dunfermline proved too hot to handle and scored again through Di Noto, who collected his second brace in a Pars' shirt, and Marletta, who brought his season tally to 22.
It was 7-3 soon afterwards, as a brilliant overhead kick capped a good counter-attacking move on the part of Inter, but Cantelli scored his 24th of the season to make it 8-3.
The headlines, though, were captured by defender Filippi, who finally notched his first goal for the club as he collected a re-bound from a Frassinelli's long range effort and gave Dunfermline another early-whistle win.

PARS ON THE VERGE OF LANDING KEEPER

Dunfermline AFC are more than likely to soon be announcing the signing of goalkeeper Antonio Minnella from Division A side Virtusestri.
With Marco Semino doubtful for the playoffs and Leonardo Perugini fighting for fitness following a niggling knee injury, the Pars' board want to make sure the goalkeeping post is well covered ahead of the finals.
Currently in Virtusestri's fold, Minnella has declared himself available for a move which will entitle him to play for a side who are certainly aiming high, currently sitting on top of the Division C Group B table.
Talks and proceedings have been thus far brilliantly handled by midfielder and director Matteo Bovalino, whose signings' track record is absolutely magnificent with particular regard to keepers, considering he was responsible for luring Marco Semino to the club earlier this term.
Minnella should play another handful of games for his current club owing to the absence of the West Genoa outfit No 1 due to a rib injury, however it was Minnella himself who undertook all necessary steps to the transaction reaching a positive ending, with a formal confirmation expected in the course of the next couple of weeks.

The Board would like to stress how both Semino and Perugini have been, are, and will be instrumental to whatever goal or objective the club may set out, and that they're obviously encouraged to state about their availability over the next few regular season games.

THE BIG TABLE EARTHQUAKE - Le Café get a 19 point deduction following the unlawful fielding of a player

Le Café were deducted 19 points from their league tally on Tuesday night, as the FA demonstrated that the formerly 3rd placed outfit had unlawfully fielded a goalkeeper under another player's name against strugglers Xeneixes.
As a result of such decision, Xeneixes are now level on points with their latest opponent, having been handed a 4-0 win contextually.
A similar decision was undertaken by the FA as against Division A side Perù, who were deducted 15 points instead and have therefore lost their high-flying status.

The updated league table looks as follows:

40 Dunfermline
40 Amici di Berto

33 Sampierdarena NCLM

PREVIEW - Internazionale

On the back of a draw against derby rivals Never Alone, which interrupted the Pars' phenomenal string of 13 wins in a row, Dunfermline will take on second-bottom Internazionale at their home ground of G.Mora on Sunday night.
Internazionale have managed only 4 points in the league so far, courtesy of an away win to New Reds Ponente back in December and an away draw to Xeneixes earlier this year.
The only side to have dropped points, by losing actually, to Aston Villa Scassi, Inter are now on a not-so-memorable run of 7 defeats on the trot and without their main frontman Francesco Argirò, who's recently started to serve a four and a half year ban following his dismissal for violent conduct as against the referee.
Even so, the poor performance against Never Alone will have to work as a sort of wake-up call for table-toppers Dunfermline, at last level on points with Amici di Berto at the summit of the table, a status which is going to be harder to maintain than it's been to reach.
Perugini should start in goal once again , even though signals are good for a forthcoming return of No 1 Marco Semino in a couple of weeks' time, whereas manager Luigi Vanin will be able to count on a full strength defence, Filippi, Frassinelli and Buttitta all being available for selection.
Marletta, Di Noto and Bovalino look set to feature in midfield, and Giuseppe Alberga should finally get his 3rd game in a Pars' shirt, if not his 1st start as well.
Cantelli and Buccianti appear fit to start upfront and, as of now, there are no news of any injuries or inconveniences preventing any other member of the squad from being involved.

Dunfermline hammered Internazionale on the occasion of their first and only encounter so far, the Pars took the lead through a Cantelli's marvellous run and finish, before adding to their tally through Matteo Bovalino.
Noli pulled one back for the home side, before Di Noto slashed home from long range, to collect his first goal for the Fifers.
A late Buccianti's brace sealed the points for Dunfermline, to complete a 5-1 scoreline.

GAMEWEEK 16 - Results / Review

NEVER ALONE SOCCER - DUNFERMLINE 3-3
Pretelli, Dell'Olio (2) / Cantelli (2), Bovalino
Dunfermline finally reached the summit of the league table courtesy of a hard-fought draw away to derby rivals Never Alone which, indeed, would have deserved a better outcome to their credit. The Pars produced arguably their worst league performance this year, but somehow took advantage of Berto's second slip up of the term.

SAMPIERDARENA - AMICI DI BERTO 2-1
Ferrea A., Verduci / Cappa
In-form Samp inflicted Berto their only 2nd defeat in the league, one which has proven costly - albeit not that costly - to former table toppers. Samp are now closing in and only have a 7 point gap to make up for from the top two.

LE CAFE - XENEIXES 5-2
Sunda, Frascatani, Puggioni A. (3) / Gnecco (2)
Le Café closed the gap from the top two to just 6 points whilst Xeneixes definitely saw off any playoff chances, still 11 points adrift 8th spot.

LAS CUEVAS - BORUSSIA 4-0
Bartolomeo E., Tavella, Chiari (2) /
Courtesy of slip-ups and half-slip ups, Las Cuevas now stand a real chance - at least theoretically - to make the top two, as the pair leading the pack are now only 9 points above the Reds. On the other hand, Borussia are now dangerously close to 9th placed New Reds, and clouds are gathering regarding their playoff berth.

ASTON VILLA SCASSI - COMPAGNIA DELLE INDIE 0-1
/ Zerbi
Villans held firm, although not firm enough, and forced a minimum margin win for Compagnia delle Indie, a side many would've expected much more from. A single goal from Zerbi secured full points for the San Desiderio side, now 6th and 5 points adrift of 4th placed Las Cuevas.

INTERNAZIONALE - NEW REDS PONENTE 3-8
Quirino (3) / Ilardo (3), Germano, Milazzo, Mongiovì (3)
In a bid to pull off an amazing comeback towards the playoff zone, New Reds romped to victory by thrashing second-bottom Internazionale by 8 goals to 3 on Monday night.
Reds are now only 3 points shy of 20 points, the tally currently held by 8th placed Borussia.

NEVER ALONE SOCCER - Analysis

LEONARDO PERUGINI
He'd gotten the guys used to brilliant and reliable performances, however he stumbled in a bad night just as nearly all other lads did. Unfortunate as far as the second goal is concerned, he's not to blame though as performances were poor throughout on the night.

FABIO FRASSINELLI
This game had a particular significance for him, a kind of significance which didn't allow him to be at his best. He is still part of the best defence in the league, though, and he'll soon go back to his all conquering habits.

DAVIDE FILIPPI
Unusually nervous, he was probably caught in the bad tempo and rhythm of the game. He collected his first caution in a Pars' shirt, but as for Frassinelli he's part of the best defence in the league and will thoroughly make amends for last night's performance.

GIUSEPPE BUTTITTA
He's part of the best defence in the league as well, and his handling of last night's game, as he was sent on the pitch when things were getting more and more difficult to handle, proved his point for a bit more consideration on the part of the gaffer.

ALDO MARLETTA
His worst performance of the season in the league, couldn't pass, couldn't mark, couldn't connect well enough on his free-kicks. He got cautioned as he got trapped in the mind-games played by the opponents.

MATTEO BOVALINO
He scored a screamer to temporarily level things up at 2-2, and tried to contribute in what appeared to be a badly organised midfield pack. One of a few positive notes for the Pars on the night.

ALESSIO DI NOTO
He made his presence felt, and contributed to the guys' comeback with pace and passes. A surprise inclusion, owing to Borreani's last minute absence, but a good contribution.

MARCO CANTELLI
His quality wasn't as evident as in other occasions, but still he produced the goals to salvage a point for Dunfermline. Only great players can be decisive when they're not at their best.

ALBERTO BUCCIANTI
His performance will be best remembered for a great chance he had at the death, as he was denied by a miracle save from Never's keeper Arecco. He fought and fought, however he wasn't duly assisted by his team-mates.

GAFFER LUIGI VANIN
He got it all wrong this time, as he should've deployed 3 midfielders, however that's the least of it, as his orders and commands couldn't be either heard of received by the lads on the pitch.
However, to his credit, he most probably applied the correct counter-measures to rotate the lads, which is his highlight as a manager.

REFEREE PERELLI
He couldn't handle the game and allowed it to slip through his hands. He denied Dunfermline a blatant penalty kick as a Never's defender clearly handled the ball in the box at 2-2.
That let alone, he did nothing to prevent the game from being as edgy as it was.

NEVER ALONE SOCCER - DUNFERMLINE 3-3

The Pars had their string of 13 wins in a row interrupted in a tense local derby against in-form Never Alone, however Cantelli scored a brace either side of a Bovalino's screamer to secure a point... and fire the lads to top spot.

It took 13 wins in a row to leave the boys second in the league, one point shy of former table toppers Amici di Berto. Then, on Sunday, Dunfermline produced their arguably worst performance of the season in the league and only managed a draw, however they found themselves in top-spot following Berto's defeat at Sampierdarena's home ground of Negrotto.
This means that Dunfermline and Amci di Berto are now level on points, the Fifers holding the smallest of edges over their rivals owing to their 4-1 away win when the two sides met back in January.

Gaffer Vanin deployed Perugini in goal, owing to the persisting knee injury to Marco Semino, whilst Frassinelli and Filippi composed the back pack as usual.
Marletta and Bovalino formed the midfield charges, and Cantelli supported Buccianti upfront. Whether the lads should've played a 3 midfielder system may be debatable, owing to the fact the Boschetto pitch is not as narrow as G.Mora, whatever the system, though, Dunfermline showed poor passing, even poorer marking and suddenly fell 2 goals behind.
Dell'Olio fired a low shot, one Perugini could only fumble into the path of Pretelli, who found the narrowest of angles to fire home and make it 1-0.
Then it was Dell'Olio himself who scored a second, as his shot seemed to be set to be stopped by Perugini, however Petrelli produced a bit of trickery to impeed Perugini's sight and the ball found the back of the net instead.
Thins got edgier and edgier for a Pars side, whose habit to pull off great comebacks didn't look to be revived on the night, even more so as Marletta couldn't handle Dell'Olio who fired a fierce volley to rattle the crossbar. Had it been 3-0, it'd all have been over.
Luck was not a factor to Dunfermline either, though, as Cantelli had a couple of good shots saved or just wide and Marletta hit the post himself with his only piece of work worthy of such a name on the night, as he volleyed from outside the box and the ball hit the right hand post.

HALF TIME: Never Alone Soccer 2, Dunfermline 0

The second half got underway and the lads were much more determined to get something out of the game, although further cautions were received by Marletta and Filippi, to add to the one for Buccianti in the first half.
Di Noto replaced Buccianti and immediately made his contribution felt, by running into space and trying to open things up a bit.
He took care of a throw-in and sent the ball in towards Cantelli's head path, and the club's top-scorer this season pulled one back to make it 2-1.
It was Di Noto, again, who found an unmarked Bovalino from a corner-kick piece, and No 11's volley was arguably his best goal of the season, levelling things up at 2-2 and giving his team-mates a bit of a momentum over the run of play.
It wasn't to be though, as Dell'Olio quickly re-established Never Alone's lead from outside the box, before Cantelli made it 3-3 with a fierce effort that left Arecco with no chance.
The Pars indeed had their own chance of winning it, as a shot from Cantelli encountered a couple of deflection and rattled the cross bar, before Buccianti tried to head home but found an Arecco's save on his way.

Zano, you, too, have been a huge surprise, one we've liked... so thanks for being part of the travelling party.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the guys back home, the ones who couldn't be part of this, you still were, though, as we brought you with us.
So, our most sincere thanks and greetings to Gaffer Luigi Vanin & wife, to our only Pino, to our goalkeepers Marco Semino and Leonardo Perugini, and to our massive Sicilian star Giuseppe Buttitta and our golden boy Andrea Borreani.

NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT - The Roads of Scotland - Part One: Jim Leishman MBE

Well, it hasn't really sunken in yet. Not completely at least. Hours within our return from Scotland, the only thing I am definitely sure about is that we're a marvellous bunch of people, and we've achieved something other could only have dreamed of.
We went to Scotland, met Dunfermline AFC, greatly represented in style by Jim Leishman MBE, a man who gave us his kindness, his time, he gave us a great opportunity to live our dream.
His handling of our visit was as wonderful as we could only hope for, he showed us around and even brought us on the park where this whole project got started.
For that, and for what Dunfermline means to me - to us - I'll never be able to thank Jim enough.
Pictures of our visit are soon going to appear on this very website, however I think those pictures are rather clear in our hearts and minds already.
Jim, we surely hope we'll meet you again soon, you've been the hit of our season so far, entitling us to accomplish our destiny as a group. Or at least part of it, as the toughest bit of the season lies ahead of us and - as you correctly remarked - focus is needed in order to achieve what we want to achieve.
Sacrifice and grit are required no matter what the goal is... well I hope we'll be able to meet again next year and dissert our respective chances to make it to the respective top-flights.

Jim, Dunfermline AFC Genoa would like to thank you for making our dream real...

All the best

PREVIEW - Never Alone Soccer

Stakes couldn't be higher as Dunfermline look to extend their marvellous run as they take on derby rivals Never Alone Soccer on Sunday.

On the back of a spiritually fulfilling experience in Scotland, where they met the "real" Dunfermline AFC earlier this week, The Pars will be taking on derby rivals Never Alone Soccer to try and extend their unbelievable run of 13 wins on the trot in what will surely be a massive encounter.
Goalkeeper Marco Semino is in doubt, after picking up a knee injury which is likely to sideline him for a while, therefore stand-in goalie Leonardo Perugini will be involved anyhow, with a look to a possible 4th successive start.
Frassinelli, Filippi and Buttitta are all available for selection at the back, whilst Di Noto is going to be left out, owing to the gaffer's rotational policy with Borreani, who's going to be called upon instead.
Marletta and Bovalino complete the midfield pack, and Cantelli and Buccianti are both raring to go upfront, whereas Never Alone's top-scorer, Parodi, will be serving a one match ban following his dismissal against table-toppers Amici Di Berto last week.

Stakes couldn't be higher for The Pars, as not only is this match going to be vital for their top-spot ambitions with Amici Di Berto facing in-form Sampierdarena on the same night, but this is also a sort of derby rival game between two sides knowing each other by heart, having spent a few nights out together as well.
The sides met twice during the course of pre-season earlier this terms, and also played out a brilliant match in the league group, one Dunfermline won by 5 goals to 3 at their home ground of G.Mora back in December.
That game represented the 3rd of a currently running string of 13 victories on the bounce for the lads, and it was obtained courtesy of a great comeback from 2 goals down.
Goals from Parodi and Dell'Olio had given the Blacks an early two-goal cushion, however Buccianti pulled one back and Cantelli levelled things up, before producing one of the finest goals of a scintillating campaign to make it 3-2 Dunfermline.
Dell'Olio equalised but Cantelli hit the back of the net to collect his hat-trick, and a final goal from Buccianti ended proceedings in quite some style to lift the Pars up against a side which had proven their worth thoroughly until then.

ASTON VILLA SCASSI - Analysis

LEONARDO PERUGINI
Handed his 3rd successive start, he didn't have much to do during the course of the game. He got wrongfooted by a couple of unfortunate deflections as Aston Villa pulled one back and produced a single save at the beginning of the first half.

FABIO FRASSINELLI
He didn't have much to do at the back either, therefore he was deployed upfront in the second half. Couldn't find the back of the net this time.

DAVIDE FILIPPI
Much in the same way as Frassinelli, he was thrusted upfront once the result had been secured. Couldn't score but once again showed pace and resilience.

ALDO MARLETTA
Scored his 2nd successive hat-trick to bring his season tally to 20 goals, however it didn't take too much of an effort to do so in such an easy game.

ALESSIO DI NOTO
Scored the opener that entitled the lads to free-score since. A constant presence in midfield, he also went close once or twice.

MARCO CANTELLI
Now on top of the team's goal-scoring chart, his hat-trick was the usual mixture of technique, composure and shot-power.

MATTEO BOVALINO
Unusually deployed as striker, Matteo scored a couple of goals in the second half, including the early-whistle 9-1 with a great individual effort.

GAFFER LUIGI VANIN
He was left with no subsitutes available, however he shuffled the pack a wee bit, which paid off in a game which couldn't result into anything else than a win.

REFEREE ZUCCHI
Easy handling for the man in black. No cards were needed, no blatant decisions to be made.

DUNFERMLINE - ASTON VILLA SCASSI 9-1

The Pars coasted to their 13th win courtesy of hat-tricks from Cantelli and Marletta, a brace by Bovalino to add to an early opener scored by Di Noto

Dunfermline eased to their 3rd early-whistle finish this term, as they romped bottom side Aston Villa Scassi by 9 goals to 1 to terminate the game well before the 50th minute.
The Pars could count on no substitutes, as Alberga didn't make the squad, unfortunately, as the rest of the guys had repeatedly claimed they would have done just about anything to allow him to score his first goal in a Dunfermline shirt.
Perugini was handed his 3rd successive start, whilst Frassinelli and Filippi composed the back-pack. Marletta was partnered in midfield by Di Noto, and Bovalino was unusually deployed upfront together with Cantelli.
It took the Pars a while before they found an opener, however it was plain sailing since and the free-scoring attitude of the lads did nothing but add to to the ongoing misery for Aston Villa.
Di Noto netted the first goal by firing a low drive that left the keeper with no chances, whereas it was Cantelli who made it two, capping a brilliant individual effort which couldn't be handled properly by the Villans keeper.
Cantelli scored another as he found himself unmarked outside the box and lashed home with another cool effort, and Marletta's first of the night came from a Di Noto's throw-in, as the captain controlled the ball with this thigh and volleyed home.
Cantelli then produced another piece of pure brilliancy as he got past his marker and fired an unstoppable shot towards the back of the net.
Dunfermline's 6th came through Marletta again, with an easy side-footed effort from just outside the penalty area.
Aston Villa pulled one back before half-time, as an unfortunate series of rebounds placed the ball past keeper Perugini.

HALF TIME: Dunfermline 6, Aston Villa Scassi 1

Gaffer Vanin shuffled the pack a wee bit at the interval, as Marletta and Cantelli were deployed at the back, swapping positions with Frassinelli and Filippi in a bid to have the pair score their own goals, however it was Bovalino who coolly converted a brilliant cross from Di Noto to make it 7-1, before Marletta found some space to run into and, after getting past a couple of opponents, fired home to collect his 2nd successive hat-trick and his 20th goal of the campaign.
The early-whistle goal was once again scored through Bovalino, whose individual effort was absolutely fantastic and was capped by a wonderful shot into the top corner.
All in all, an easy win for the lads, which still sit 2nd as Never Alone Soccer were thoroughly outclassed by front runners Amici di Berto, which recorded a 6-1 win.

LE CAFE STUMBLE

Current 3rd placed Le Café kind of stumbled in their Saturday night fixture against a rejuvenated New Reds Ponente.
The home side held the group high flyers to a 3-3 draw in what could prove a decider for The Pars' top-two ambitions.
In actual fact, should Dunfermline overhaul bottom side Aston Villa Scassi tonight, they'd fire themselves 8 points clear of Le Café, a cushion that, albeit not decisive with 7 ties remaining, could well be regarded as comfortable enough to secure 2nd berth at the very least.
Moreover, by stumbling against New Reds, Le Café have shown the significance of last weekend's victory obtained by Dunfermline against the 9th placed outfit, a 4-2 win on a day when the yellow-and-blue side were without Marco Cantelli and Marco Semino, indeed two of the brightest stars for the side this season.

THE FINISH LINE

With only 8 games remaining before the regular season reaches its completion, our very own striker Alberto Buccianti thought it wise to draw our attention on the parallel fixtures matchday by matchday, involving games for current table-toppers Amici di Berto and Le Café, on top of ours.
On top of encounters against one another, the current three front-runners (Amici Di Berto 37 Pts, Dunfermline 36, Le Café 30), will have to fully focus on the potential banana-skin games ahead of them, which could well prove costly.

OUR SCOTLAND - Clegg

To those who know me well enough, it'll come as little surprise to realise that Scotland - and Dunfermline, in particular - is as much of a promised land to me as Australia is to surfers.
The best bit, the really outstanding bit in this whole thing about us going to Scotland, to know "the real thing", the real Dunfermline Athletic Football Club, is the spirit and the togetherness we've shown so far this season.
On and off the pitch, we've been a bunch of lads - and ladies, we shouldn't forget about our beloved supporters - enjoying our time together, obviously the results have massively contributed to this feeling, but it's not only aiming high in terms of results that you create a project like this.

A trip to Scotland is likely to perfectly cap what has been an enthusing season so far, even more so because this is indeed going to be OUR SCOTLAND.

We surely remember about the man (?, c'mon sue us) who'd promised everything to us, including this trip to Scotland.
It wasn't to be, real men do hold on to their promises, and do not make any promises they're not capable of holding on to, at the very least.

We surely remember about the kid who tried to punch one of his team-mates because he'd been told not to weep like a child as we were conceding a few too many goals in a friendly game we ended up winning instead. Well, litte kid, we always tried to let you understand that if a defence package is cynical enough, clinical enough, and essential enough, we would probably win more games. Now he's not with us anymore, we do indeed have the best defence in the league.

We surely remember about the bald dwarf and his claim for a regular place in the first team. The funniest thing about the dwarf, though, was that he hid in the dark while witnessing the early signs of improvement since his dismissal. It was Dunfermline 3, Compagnia 3, and it matters not that result was later overturned by an FA decision, fair enough... Why would you hide in the dark if you didn't feel guilty? Or ashamed? And, why would you not be ashamed if you knew your looks and way of thinking?

We surely remember about the skinny idiot, that half-winger half-striker half-man half-gay who still owes money to some of us.
Well, at least he works for someone as decent (?, c'mon sue us again) as he is now.

Such a digression may appear inappropriate or hatred-motivated, but it isn't. Rather, I think our common feeling about those guys is... pity. I feel sorry for them, struggling in other teams, nowhere near where we are.
We've managed to overcome the trouble caused by the all promising man, we got ourselves an excellent partner and support in Fornetto Genovese (you'll always have your space in our hearts, no matter what...) and we're now prepared to take to Scotland. Our Scotland.
We're paying for it, it is on our terms, it is ours. Not anyone else's. Ours.

So, while thinking the best way to cap this season would be promotion - ehrr... let's stop it here, we've still got a long long way to go - our Scotland is a great achievement in itself already, and we're raring to go. Well, five days from now... We'll be there, we shall see...

Cheers

AM

PREVIEW - Aston Villa Scassi

On a scintillating run of 12 wins in a row, The Pars will better be on their toes for their next tie, against bottom side Aston Villa Scassi, a team capable of collecting only 3 points, against fellow minnows Internazionale, from their 14 league outings in the league so far.
It'll come as little comfort toAston Villa that they scored their first two league goals against Dunfermline when the sides met in reverse fixtures last November, as they were thumped by 9 goals to 2 in what represented an absolute first time for the Fifers, who obtained an early whistle ending for the first time in their history.
This is because AICS provisions state that a game has to be declared over once either team reaches 9 goals - hence early whistle.
Gaffer Vanin will deploy Perugini in goal for a third successive game, although Semino has made his comeback from his trip to Santo Domingo and was on the stands to witness the win against New Reds Ponente at the weekend.
This is to reward Perugini for his brilliant performances in the games against Las Cuevas and New Reds, however Semino remains Dunfermline's No 1 and will be involved against Never Alone Soccer a week on Sunday.
Sicilian defender Giuseppe Buttitta is going to miss out through a thigh strain, but all other regular defenders are available, whereas Borreani is going to be left out in favour of Alessio Di Noto, and the pair will swap roles next week.
Top scorer Buccianti will be serving a one-match-ban, following his third yellow card in the league, a suspension the Tuscan-born striker had actually sought after, as his services may well be much more necessary on other occasions.
Alberga should feature instead, although he's not entirely likely to be given his first start in a Pars' shirt, and his involvement will most probably concern the second half of the match.

GAMEWEEK 14 - Results / Review

LAS CUEVAS - AMICI DI BERTO 2-4
Bartolomeo, Chiari / Steiner, Calcagno (2), Castiglia
Las Cuevas couldn't stop table toppers Amici di Berto and slipped up to a second successive defeat. Meanwhile, Berto keep their one point cushion over current runners up Dunfermline, and have collected a string of 6 wins on the bounce, whilst Las Cuevas have been overtaken in 4th by Sampierdarena.

DUNFERMLINE - NEW REDS PONENTE 4-2
Buccianti, Marletta (3) / Ilardo, Stefanzl
Dunfermline's 12th win on the trot wasn't enough to fire the Pars to top spot, however that is clearly the longest running winning streak within the whole AICS fold. New Reds Ponente have contextually seen off any realistic chances of making the playoffs, drifting to 7 points behind 8th berth.

SAMPIERDARENA NCLM - LE CAFE 3-0
Ferrea E. (2), Dagnino / -
Samp are one of the in-form sides of the group, having collected five in a row now. It was the unlikelier of Ferreas (Enrico) who settled it with a brace, to add to a goal from Dagnino. On the other hand, Le Café have lost 3 out of 4 games against direct opponents, having conceded defeat once apiece to Amici di Berto, Dunfermline and Sampierdarena. This means the Blacks are now 6 points adrift of the top-two, and only 3 clear of Samp themselves.

ASTON VILLA SCASSI - NEVER ALONE SOCCER 3-9
Caviglia, Lo Piccolo (2) / Parodi (4), Dell'Olio (3), De Alexandris, Fusco
Never Alone thumped bottom side Aston Villa which, in spite of a 3 goal tally, conceded 9 to add to their misery. Never Alone continue on their recent run of form and get back to the top half of the table, courtesy of four goals from Parodi, a hat-trick from Dell'Olio and goals from De Alexandris and Fusco.

COMPAGNIA DELLE INDIE - INTERNAZIONALE 4-2
Own Goal, Zerbi, Pedullà L., Beretta / Biondi, Perasso
Compagnia went back to winning ways courtesy of an easy home win against second bottom Internazionale, that've long been without any hopes of pulling off a great escape towards the playoff. Compagnia are now in the comfort zone and sit 7 points clear of 9th placed New Reds.

BORUSSIA - XENEIXES 3-3
Mele, Pedemonte, Cocuzza / Gnecco (3)
Borussia kind of stumbled into 10th placed Xeneixes, as they failed to take advantage of a favourable round of games and only managed a home draw. A Gnecco hat-trick salvaged a point for a rejuvenated Xeneixes side, still 11 points adrift of the playoff zone but sparking a bit of life into the remainder of their campaign after this well-earned point. Borussia are level on points with Compagnia delle Indie in 7th berth.

NEW REDS PONENTE - Analysis

LEONARDO PERUGINI
Unfazed by returning Semino's presence on the stands, he produced a couple of excellent saves to deny Stefanzl and Ilardo at a critical stage of the game. Could do little to prevent New Reds' goals from materialising and constantly assured the back pack with his presence.

FABIO FRASSINELLI
Well, what more can be said about him? A great header of the ball, a tireless marker and, more importantly, a trustworthy and reliable presence at the back. He might have done a little more about the first New Reds goal, but that came through a marvellous collective move and he thoroughly made amends for that.

DAVIDE FILIPPI
An excellent defensive partner for Frassinelli, Fernandez showed grit, determination and the usual pace. He's going to score a goal as well, sooner or later, as he fully deserves it owing to his dependability at the back.

GIUSEPPE BUTTITTA
Started as a sub, he was introduced when Di Noto had to be withdrawn for failing to wear his shinpads on. Taken off again, he was re-introduced minutes into the second half but injured himself, hopefully it won't be nothing more than a thigh strain.
He snuffed out attacks effectively, showing he deserves his place in the side.

ALDO MARLETTA
Scored a hat-trick to bring his season tally to 17. Also hit the woodwork twice and produced a clearing header to prevent an equaliser from materialising. Cooperated well with Bovalino and Di Noto in midfield, and one of the goals came from a customary free-kick.

MATTEO BOVALINO
Wonderful contribution in a very hectic and frantic-pace game. Matteo composes the well-known "Golden Pair" with Marletta, a partnership dating back to the days when the midfielders plied their trade together at Praese, under Flavio Ricci's tenure.
He's got pace, he's got ability, he can see passes and he consistently creates openings.

ALESSIO DI NOTO
Perhaps his best game in a Pars' shirt, Alessio provided Clegg with an excellent delivery on the 3-1 goal. Also, he put Buccianti through in style late on, although the striker failed to make it count. A welcomed return to the starting lineup, he also went close with a free-kick.

ALBERTO BUCCIANTI
Notched his 20th of the season and did so his usual way, by being in the right place at the right time. Could've killed the game off at one point but failed to convert from a great Di Noto pass.
He was cautioned and will therefore miss the next game against Aston Villa Scassi, however that was the original plan as his goals may not be required against the bottom side.

GAFFER VANIN
His first half changes may have appeared a wee bit articulated and overdone, however he's got results on his side, no matter how reached. He's at the helm to make decisions, and he's done that with good profit this far.

REFEREE MILILLO
He made a good use of the cards and awarded a blatant penalty-kick, as one of the Reds defenders clearly handled the ball in the box. He didn't allow the game to slip out of his control and did well to manage the run of play.

DUNFERMLINE - NEW REDS PONENTE 4-2

The Pars collected their 12th win in a row by beating a tenacious New Reds Ponente side by 4 goals to 2 at their home ground of G.Mora on Sunday night.
Perugini made his second start for the club, although Semino turned up - much to the boys' delight - on the stands midway through the first half.
The back pack was once again composed by Frassinelli and Filippi, whereas Marletta and Bovalino were deployed in midfield, Di Noto returning to the starting lineup to partner up with Buccianti upfront.
As usual, when it comes to home games, Dunfermline's performance was far from scintillating, but 3 points were all the lads needed on a night when Cantelli missed out through a one match ban whilst Borreani wasn't involved owing to the gaffer's rotational policy.
The Pars had a few chances to open the score and they indeed did so as Marletta took a free-kick, which was blocked off by a defender and fell far too kindly for Buccianti, who netted his 20th goal of the term, 19th in the league, from close range.
New Reds showed they're far behind from where they'd deserve to be in the league table, and found a compelling equaliser, capped by a close range header following a marvellous move which saw a mixture of low passes and crosses to find Dunfermline's defence out.
It took a customary free-kick from Marletta to restore The Pars' lead, as No 5's effort proved too hot to handle for the opponents' keeper, which was left baffled by the cool curling of the shot.
Minutes later, Di Noto played a fantastic ball towards Marletta, who got past his man and coolly fired home to make it 3-1 before the interval.

HALF TIME: Dunfermline 3 New Reds Ponente 1

The second half got underway and New Reds immediately produced another great move to shorten the gap to just one goal, after a couple of smart passes on the right hand flank entitled Stefanzl to fire an unstoppable shot from just outside the box to make it 3-2.
Things got a wee bit edgy for the lads, and it took two marvellous saves from Perugini to deny Stefanzl and Ilardo, from a halfway effort and a close range attempt respectively.
Di Noto once again proved his nettle by creating a crisp opening and feed the ball in Buccianti's path, but the Tuscan striker spurned a good chance.
Ilardo tried again and just as the ball looked set to find its way in, Clegg pulled off a diving header to prevent an equaliser from materialising.
Bovalino was once again on a great night, and his contribution in midfield was as spot on as ever, whilst Frassinelli, Filippi and Buttitta once again showed why they're the best defence of the league, although the Sicilian was forced to limp off with what appeared as a thigh strain midway through the second half.
The Pars were handed the easiest of chances to finish New Reds off, as one of the opponents' defence clearly handled the ball in the box, to leave Clegg to settle it with his hat-trick and his 17th of the season.
