COMPAGNIA DELLE INDIE - DUNFERMLINE 3-6

Dunfermline thumped Compagnia delle Indie by 6 goals to 3 in what had been considered as a sort of rival derby between two in-form sides, whose fortunes, though, may well take different paths after such an embarrassing difference in potential was shown on the pitch last night.
Gaffer fielded an attacking side, by deploying Semino in goal, Buttitta and Filippi at the back, Di Noto, Marletta and Cantelli in midfield and Buccianti upfront.
Frassinelli could only make the bench, after suffering the recurrence of a knock on his right knee, whilst Borreani injured his shoulder and was relegated to the sidelines.
It took Cantelli only a few seconds to open the scoring, as he and Di Noto combined well a few yards outside the box, before The Pars' No 6 drove a left-footed shot into the bottom corner to give the Pars the best of starts.
Minutes later, it was Marletta who fed the ball into Cantelli's path, only for the forward to complete his brace with a neat finish at the far corner.
It was brilliance at its purest, Dunfermline's free-flowing play causing more than one headache to a Compagnia defensive package, which was once again found out as Cantelli served a great ball to Filippi, who hit the woodwork with his first attempt of the game.
Compagnia tried to pull one back, but Semino was as sharp as ever in denying Pedullà, and soon afterwards Marletta made it 3-0 after receiving a brilliant laid back pass from Buccianti, and firing an amazing dipping shot which left the keeper with no other chance than to pick the ball up from the back of the net.
Semino once again denied the opponents, by parrying a good effort from Contini, but the first half was a one way traffic deal and such factor was further confirmed as Di Noto notched a fourth, finishing off a great move which saw Cantelli and Filippi also involved, the defender's pass being as valuable as the goal itself in a counter-attacking move which only went to highlight how The Pars fare well when they play on wide pitches.

HALF TIME: Compagnia Delle Indie 0 Dunfermline 4

The second half got underway and Dunfermline looked to slow proceedings down a wee bit, as they could count on a nearly unassailable four goal cushion.
However, they had to pay the price for some sloppy attitude at the back, and were provided with two scares, as newly introduced Catanzano pulled one back, before a Pedullà's free kick found the back of the net to make it 4-2.
Semino had to prevent a 3rd from materializing, and he was brilliant to deflect another close range effort towards the right hand post.
The Pars picked themselves together again in massive fashion after having conceded, and Bovalino was picked well by a Cantelli through pass, only for The Pars' No 11 to coolly slot home from close range.
Buccianti netted another a couple of minutes later, as he received the ball inside the keeper's box
and scored at his second attempt, courtesy of a fortunate rebound.
Contini pulled yet another goal back to make it 6-3, but no further twists and turns occurred, therefore Dunfermline finally claimed a deserved first win against Compagnia delle Indie.
And it tasted all the sweeter as the tie wasn't really much of a match.
