The Pars will encounter Compagnia Delle Indie at St Desiderio on Sunday night, in what will be the third ever tie between the sides.
Last year, the Reds twice had the better of Dunfermline, by massive margins as well, as the Scots were defeated 8-3 away and 0-7 at home, but last year was last year and Dunfermline were not quite the same club they're now.
The sides also met earlier this term, on matchday 1, to spark a thrilling 3-3 draw, sealed by a last minute equaliser from Marletta, whilst goals from Buccianti and Cantelli had given the Pars the lead twice early on, only for Contini to net a superb free-kick either side of a brace from Catanzano.
Sadly, the brilliant on-the-pitch result was later cancelled off by a correct, albeit controversial, FA ruling, which consigned all three points to Compagnia, owing to a breach of signings regulations on the part of Dunfermline AFC.
Dunfermline currently sit second, having collected nine wins on the bounce to open a three-point cushion over 3rd placed Le Café.
On the other hand, Compagnia have only recently started to resemble to the brilliant side capable of producing many stunning free scoring performances last season, notably they eased past Never Alone Soccer at the weekend, courtesy of a 5-3 home win which entitled the Reds to leapfrog their opponents and establish themselves in 6th position..
No matter what the final scoreline reads, this is going to be a terrific match between two quality sides, whose defensive packages are the best in the group and whose attacking options rarely fall short.
