BORUSSIA - DUNFERMLINE 3-4

THE FLOWERS OF SCOTLAND - Mission: accomplished

Dunfermline met and made history on Monday night, as they collected a precious 4-3 away win against 7th placed Borussia, to claim the league title ahead of a promotion bid which is going to take the lads to an Excellence Playoff Group also involving Moro Populars, Hellas Begato and fellow league winners Massacroni, the only side in the whole Division C capable of reaching a higher point tally than Dunfermline's.

On the night Luigi Vanin, The Pars' manager, deployed Semino in goal, for what could well have been his last game of the season, while the back pack was composed by Filippi and Frassinelli, who were both a yellow card away from missing out on the first playoff tie through suspension.
This was partly due to the fact Sicilian defender Buttitta failed to turn up, which is going to implicate harsh consequences for the Fifers' No 55.
Bovalino, Marletta and Borreani started in midfield, with main marksman Cantelli playing the lone striker.
During the first half, Borussia looked at times a far better side than their 7th position might have told, however Dunfermline had a couple of attempts blocked and failed to find a breakthrough.

HALF TIME: Borussia 0, Dunfermline 0

As Dunfermline's hopes of winning the league title were inevitably matched to a victory on the day, Borussia seemed to gather some courage and tried to push for a goal, but they were punished when they least expected it, as Bovalino and Buccianti combined well, the latter - introduced during the first half for the injured Borreani - serving an excellent ball to Marletta, whose shot was fumbled by Borussia keeper, only for Cantelli to latch on to the ensuing loose ball and establish the lads in the lead.
The width of the Ca de Rissi pitch proved on one hand extremely handy for Dunfermline's players technique and vision, on the other hand, though, it backfired a little, as the midfielders didn't look capable of supporting their back-pack as a few counter attacking moves on the part of the home side wreaked havoc.
Cantelli was once again pivotal in earning his side a free-kick just outside the box, from a Semino clearance, only for the forward to be taken down.
Marletta stepped up to take the ensuing free-kick, and he drove the ball low past the keeper in the bottom left corner, to make it 2-0, customary.
Dunfermline, though, failed to kill the opponents off, and Borussia pulled one back following yet another fine counter attack.
Cantelli immediately made it 3-1 after receving the ball from Clegg and driving it low on the bottom right corner from outside the box, but Borussia hit back once again courtesy of a 15 yard effort which surprised Semino.
Bovalino provided Buccianti with a marvel of a delivery, only for the Tuscan striker to head the ball over the bar, before Cantelli seemed to have sealed it with yet another hat-trick, bringing his season tally to an incredible 37.
The Pars' No 6 received the ball on the left handside of the box, and though he was left with a narrow path to place the ball into, he did well to wrongfoot the goalie with his left foot to make it 4-2.
A couple of unfortunate deflections off a couple of Dunfermline players were to blame for the final goal of the match, a 3-4 which made things slightly edgier, even though the home side didn't create any further dangers and were left to witness the not so noisy joy the lads celebrated their title winning campaign with.
