SAMPIERDARENA - Analysis

MARCO SEMINO
Back to his best form, he could have done little about the unfortunate own goal his team conceded. That let alone, he produced a stunning performance, with at least 3 marvellous - and decisive - saves.

FABIO FRASSINELLI
One of the most brilliant players on the pitch, his handling of Ferrea was simply fantastic, he never panicked and stole a few important balls. His substitution was debatable but he was re-introduced towards the end of the game to contribute to the side's win.

DAVIDE FILIPPI
He was unfortunate to deflect a corner-kick into his own net, apart from that he was just amazing. He contained and snuffed out attacks with ease, and he also tried to contribute to open play.

GIUSEPPE BUTTITTA
The Sicilian defender was introduced midway through the second half and coolly handled proceedings at the back. He was as effective as Frassinelli in marking Ferrea, and he once again proved a reliable team player.

MATTEO BOVALINO
He had to sacrifice, which he did, brilliantly. As usual, a wholehearted and gritty performance on his part, he is a great midfielder and last night was no exception.

ALDO MARLETTA
He squandered a glorious chance to make it 1-0 from the spot, but later made amends courtesy of a great assist from Buccianti. Not back to his best just yet, but he rose to the occasion and came back to scoring ways after a 2-game goal drought. Cautioned, he's going to miss out on next game through suspension.

MARCO CANTELLI
He scored his 30th goal of a wonderful season, thus gifting The Pars victory, as often is the case.
He tried with all sorts of efforts, and earned his side a penalty early in the second half.
This is a hell of player, defences are simply terrorised when he runs at them.

ALBERTO BUCCIANTI
Man of the match, by all standards. All dangers involved his presence, he played a great square ball in towards Cantelli, who earned a penalty from that.
He produced an unbelievable turn and pass to give Clegg a chance to equalise. That let alone, he huffed and puffed throughout and his "physique du role" proved once again relevant.

ANDREA BORREANI
When introduced, he created a few openings, and his pace undermined a few Samp's defence certainties. He was involved in both goals, and he confirmed once again he's an added value to the team.

GAFFER VANIN
One may criticise his handling of substitutions, especially at a critical stage of the game, but the final scoreline reads 2-1 Dunfermline, so he must've got it right yet again.

REFEREE MEJIA
Concerns had been voiced as to the fact that an experienced ref should have been appointed for this game.
As to experience, little can be argued with the decision of appointing Mejia, however his handling of the game was poor and he allowed way too many tackles, challenges and lunges to fly in.
His 2 minute second half stoppage time turned into 4 or so, however he didn't affect the game much, which is good.
