A numerous delegation of Dunfermline's personnel will travel to Tuscany tomorrow, to the extent of celebrating the accomplished mission of securing a top-two berth with two games to spare.
The lads, and a few supporting fans, are going to meet at the early time of 8 AM and will then make their way to Terranuova Bracciolini, in the Valdarno valley, one of the most suggestive places in Italy.
This trip has long been scheduled, and it was actually dreamed of much sooner. It was actually early days of the season, when the idea of spending a nice weekend surrounded by green and the hills was sparked, so what more perfect rendez-vous, as our very own striker Alberto Buccianti happens to come from such green Tuscan hills?
Initially, the lads had thought about planning on this outing following the first 3 successive wins in the league, but the season got underway, and they didn't exactly hit the ground running.
An 8-3 cup defeat at the hands of Sestri may not have illustrated our strength in depth - that was when we didn't have a goalkeeper and a few unwanted people were still around -.
The league then started, and a precious 3-3 draw against Compagnia delle Indie was collected at the death, only to be overturned by a correct FA desicion whereby we lost 4-0.
One week later, we were befallen again, Las Cuevas winning 4-3 and leaving us to dread on our on the pitch issues and the ones off it.
Along came Fornetto Genovese, who rescued us as a team and most probably as a bunch of friends. Togetherness came too, courtesy of a string of not only 3 wins, which would've been enough for us to go "Tutti dal Buccia" [we're all going to Buccia's], but we like doing things our own way, so we picked up 10 + 3 = 13 wins on the bounce, prior to a relatively blip period, which we shrugged off by winning the most important games of all... last week...
Therefore, we're all leaving tomorrow, we'll be coming back on Sunday, just in time for our penultimate game of the regular season, against Le Café.
Also, we'll have a hell of a job on our hands, as we'll have to give the lies to the habit whereby we don't perform after these collective trips... Here's the stats:
After Levico Terme: Dunfermline 3, Virtusestri 8
After Scotland: Never Alone 3, Dunfermline 3
By the way, this is a football team, essentially, so we're going to play against a Valdarno team too...
We shall see
All the best, guys...
